Patelco hit with class action lawsuit over ransomware attack [Video]

Two weeks after the attack first shut things down, some services still remain unavailable.

Lawfirm Cole & Van Note filed the suit July 1, days after the ransomware attack hit the credit union, citing its “failure to properly secure and safeguard” members’ information.

The ransomware attack made Patelco shut down basic electronic payments and online banking systems. Patelco says payments, direct deposits, transfers, online banking and their mobile app were impacted. 

Two weeks after the attack first shut things down, some services still remain unavailable. 

It’s left many customers frustrated and unable to make critical payments on deadline. 

Patelco says anyone having trouble paying bills during this attack should contact whoever expects the money and tell them about what’s happening. The credit union also says they’ll reimburse any late fees incurred by the breach. 

Customers tell ABC10 they haven’t heard an update from the credit union since Tuesday after receiving nightly emails with updates.
