Patelco Credit Union ransomware attack being investigated [Video]

CALIFORNIA, USA — Days after Patelco Credit Union suffered a ransomware attack, some clarification about what members can use is coming to light.

In a statement posted to its social media channels Sunday, the credit union said it required them to shut down some day-to-day banking systems including online banking and the mobile app including: electronic transactions like transfers, direct deposit and payments and accessing the online portal.

CEO Erin Mendez has been updating members daily and said in an update Wednesday that they’re still investigating the attack, but members’ “money is safe and secure.” 

The call center will be open Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 800-358-8228 but locations will be closed for the Fourth of July. Long wait times are expected.
