MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Mayor Friday Ellis appointed Pastor Ike Byrd, III, as new Director of Community Affairs.
Byrd has been the pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for more than 20 years and works with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, and the United Way of Northeast Louisiana.
Byrd’s involvement with the community doesn’t end there. He also serves on the boards of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, St. Francis Hospital, and other local organizations.
“I am confident in Pastor Byrd’s leadership and management experience, qualifications for this role, and his personal commitment to serving citizens across the City of Monroe,” Mayor Ellis said. “He is the right person for this important role, and I’m excited to see the positive difference his leadership will make in our city and in the lives of our citizens.”
