SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A fundraiser for the Springfield officer shot in the face and leg during a shooting spree last month took place on Wednesday.
The event organizer said Nestor Santos’ injury pulled at their heartstrings, now, they’re doing what they can to help his recovery.
Nearly two months after Springfield Police Officer Nestor Santos was seriously injured while responding to a shooting spree, his community continues to show their unwavering support.
“He’s one of ours. He’s a Springfield policeman and he puts his life on the line every day. We’re a charitable organization and we’re a community organization and we wanted to take care of our community,” Eagles Auxiliary 148 President Darlene Francis told us.
