BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) – Belle Plaine rings in the season with its Holiday Homecoming celebration.
This year, the event was held on November 30th, to tie in Small Business Saturday. The tradition brings the entire community out to enjoy treats like hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows, before settling down to watch the lighted parade.
The parade brings dozens of entries to travel down Main Street, lighting up the town. And city leaders say the celebration is getting bigger and brighter every year.
“It brings together the community and it also brings together the generations and it it’s about traditions,” says Mindy Atkinson, the vice president of the Belle Plaine Community Development Corporation. “We’re small and mighty and we come together and we like to celebrate things!”
