The man accused of murdering his girlfriend, Liz Quackenbush, a beloved New Orleans teacher, has been found guilty. Preston Higgs, 40, was found guilty of second-degree murder Friday.Dianne Holand, her family and friends of her daughter Liz Quackenbush stood hand in hand outside Orleans Parish Criminal Court after hearing the man accused of killing her was found guilty. “She was a gem, loved by many. You sit in that same room with evil, and it takes a lot just to maintain,” Holland said.
