One person died following a fire that destroyed an auto shop in Excelsior Springs. The fire happened after 1 p.m. on Wednesday.Police say one other person was injured in the fire. “We encountered a gentleman on fire and the business was engulfed in flames,” said Ryan Dowdy, lieutenant of the Excelsior Springs Police Department. “We began evacuating the area and moving patients. Through the course of the evening, we do have one deceased party and one party transported to burns.” Police confirmed Wednesday evening that the owner of the business died. His name was not released.
