SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — The Better Business Bureau warns vendors of fall festivals and events to beware of scammers.
The BBB received several reports in the spring of people pretending to be event organizers on social media to trick potential vendors into sending them money. The BBB says vendors should get off social media when trying to book.
“Facebook, for better or worse, is a very popular place for all of us to find out about what’s going on in our communities,” said Pamela Hernandez of the Better Business Bureau. “If you want to get legitimate information, if you want to make sure you’re going to the right place. Find the organization that’s putting on the event, find the group, go directly to their publicly available number, give them a call, pick up the phone, and find out what they need to do to be a vendor.”
