The Omaha Police Department Thursday identified the man killed by a police officer in a north-central Omaha residential neighborhood.
Cameron Ford, 37, was shot by Officer Adam Vail as police executed a search warrant pertaining to firearms and narcotics at a multilevel house near 78th and Redick Avenues Wednesday morning.
Vail has been with the Police Department for nearly seven years, a police press release said. The Police Department said Vail has been a SWAT member since March 2023 and been involved with the execution of 122 “high risk” warrants during his time in SWAT. SWAT was involved due to Ford’s criminal history, police said.
The Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted in the execution of the warrant. Police said they found a firearm and “a large quantity of narcotics” in the house.
