Omaha organization lending a helping hand for Thanksgiving dinners [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Thanksgiving is around the corner, but it’s not too early to lend a hand.

Local organizations are working hard to put food on the table for those in need.

The grocery bill can get lengthy and expensive for Thanksgiving.

The Omaha Chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association hosted a meal box giveaway in South Omaha.

Inside – a turkey, corn, stuffing, potatoes, and bread.

Last year they gave away 75 boxes, this year they’re prepared to donate more than double that.

The association supports its local Latino Police Officers. They also work to create better community relations.

“Our goal is to bridge that gap between the community and law enforcement so anything we can do not only within the south Omaha community but the Latino community all over the city to say hey the police are your friends.
