OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Some might call it the trashiest promotion in college basketball.
Omaha Athletics will host a “Bring Your Own Garbage Can” event for Saturday’s men’s basketball game against Denver. Fans that bring a trash can to the game can use it as a popcorn container for $5. Bins must be five gallons or smaller. No lids are permitted.
As we told you last week, the Mavericks have taken to pummeling garbage pails to celebrate wins. Since associate head coach Kyan Brown began the unusual postgame tradition, Omaha has won nine-straight games while ascending to first place in the Summit League.
Bin-bringers can have their trash cans filled up at the Nineteen 08 concession stand.
In the announcement, Omaha states that all bins must be sanitized prior to entry, adding “Omaha and Baxter Arena reserve the right to refuse any container deemed unsanitary or a potential health risk.”
