Officer involved in south Toledo shooting overnight, police say [Video]

A Toledo officer allegedly saw Michael Thomas, 40, firing a rifle into a bar on Arlington Ave. early Sunday. The officer fired at Thomas, who fled and was arrested.

TOLEDO, Ohio — An incident involving a Toledo police officer firing at an alleged armed shooting suspect ended with an arrest and no injuries early Sunday.

Officers responded around 1:19 a.m. Sunday to the area of Geneva and Arlington avenues on reports of shots being fired, according to a press release from the Toledo Police Department. They were unable to locate a scene at the time.

Around an hour later, an officer who remained in the area claimed to see a suspect, identified by police as 40-year-old Michael Thomas, approach Crox Bar in the 1700 block of Arlington Avenue. Thomas allegedly began firing into the bar with a rifle and was shot at by the officer, who has not yet been identified.
