NASHVILLE, Tenn. — An East Tennessee state representative told 10News Tuesday he would not vote in favor of implementing a universal school voucher program across the state.
Rep. Rick Scarbrough (R-Oak Ridge) spoke with WBIR reporters Olivia Dague and Ellis Rold Tuesday about the topic. The universal school vouchers proposal would use public funds to help families pay for students’ private education.
“It’s become very clear our district is not in favor of the school choice bill. So I will be voting ‘no’ on the school choice bill,” Scarbrough said.
