CLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in several Northeast Ohio counties as downpours and wind gusts threaten the region.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect in parts of Geauga County, Cuyahoga County and Lake County until 5:30 p.m.
The NWS said quarter-size hail, damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and “continuous cloud to ground lightning” are possible and people are urged to move indoors immediately. Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to flash flooding.
In addition, a Special Weather Statement was issued for parts of Lake and Geauga County until 4:45 p.m.
The NWS said penny-sized hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible and for those to seek shelter in a sturdy structure.
