It’s no easy task to plan and host a festival that attracts thousands of people every summer. The North Ridgeville Corn Festival Committee has been planning for the 49th annual event set to take place the second weekend in August (Aug. 9-11) the minute last year’s festival ended. The festival takes place on Bainbridge Road along South Central Park.
“The big thing is trying to gain volunteers,” said John Butkowski, president of the North Ridgeville Corn Festival Committee. “We need folks to assist in places like the souvenir booth, checking wrist bands, and shucking corn, as well as setting up and tearing down the event. We need lots of volunteers. Everyone wants a nice festival, but it’s hard to get people to volunteer.”
