North Liberty looks to use remaining ARPA funds before approaching deadlines [Video]

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Local governments have until the end of this year to decide how to use any remaining American Rescue Plan Act funding.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of North Liberty received roughly 2.6 million dollars in ARPA funds from the Federal government.

”This was a once-in-a-lifetime investment in our local community and we want to make sure we have invested that locally,” said Nick Bergus, community relations director for the city of North Liberty.

The city focused the funds on social services and updating public places– like Centennial Park.

Even with all the projects, the money isn’t all used up.

”We’re left with about $300,000 that we need to allocate by the end of this year,” Bergus said.

No plans are currently set for how the money will be used, and if it isn’t obligated by the end of the year, it has to go …
