Newly appointed St. Helens superintendent announces new plan [Video]

ST HELENS Ore. (KPTV) – The St. Helens School District has appointed an acting superintendent amid multiple sexual abuse allegations against teachers and investigations of neglect into the former administration.

In a press conference Tuesday, acting superintendent, Steve Webb, said there is a lot of anger and distrust in the community right now so he laid out his plan to stabilize the district.

“The district has significant work ahead to repair relationships and rebuild trust. Healing this pain will take time, decisive action, and transparent communication, and community engagement,” Webb said.

Webb’s plan has five parts. First, the Northwest Regional Education Service District will plan to launch an independent investigation of the district’s mandatory reporting training and accountability systems. Second, he plans to appoint a new principal at the high school ASAP.

Next, he plans on holding listening sessions at every school in the district.
