MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) -As of October 1st, a new way to pay for parking around downtown Montgomery is in effect.
About 70 kiosks, strategically placed around the downtown area, will manage the payment for most of the City of Montgomery’s 2,500 parking spaces downtown.
It’s only been about five years since the city implemented the mobile app ParkMobile, which allows you to pay the parking meters with your cell phone. That app will work in conjunction with the new kiosks.
The idea is to eventually eliminate the use of cash and coins to pay for parking downtown and even the meters themselves.
Not every parking space downtown is connected to a kiosk yet. Several single-use meters are still operating on some of the small side streets. If you park in one of those spaces, you …
