New Titans stadium prioritizing local builders and workers, even training those without construction experience [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Leaders in charge of building the new Tennessee Titans stadium are hopeful the project will launch hundreds of local workers into a rewarding construction career.

The Tennessee Builders Alliance (TBA) is offering classes to teach Middle Tennesseans about workplace safety, construction math, and how to operate power tools. The program, called Titans Construction Training Camp (TC2) started earlier this month.

“I’m proud to say that every person that comes through the program is guaranteed a job interview, and what’s really rewarding is to look outside and see many of them working with companies,” Reggie Polk, whose business Polk & Associates Construction makes up part of the TBA.

The TBA is also prioritizing hiring small local businesses that are owned by socially and economically disadvantaged people, known as Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE). The Titans have a goal of meeting or exceeding 25% of DBE participation on the …
