New survey asks residents to weigh in on future of The Commons Pedestrian Plaza in Midland | Community [Video]

Midland’s Downtown Development Authority is already looking toward its future – specifically, its future beyond 2025.

MIDLAND, Mich.  (WJRT) – The 2024 season is not yet over for Downtown Midland’s The Commons Pedestrian Plaza, but the Downtown Development Authority is already looking toward its future – specifically, its future beyond 2025 – and invites the public to weigh in on the topic via a new survey on E-City Hall.

Since 2020, the Pedestrian Plaza has provided a two-block, vehicle-free area of Main Street for expanded shopping, dining, gathering, and events each summer.

In 2022, the Midland City Council gave multi-year approval to renew the Pedestrian Plaza annually from early June to late September through the 2025 season; however, whether the Pedestrian Plaza continues or stops after 2025 has not been decided.
