New recruits bolster Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriffs Office ranks [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Twenty-two weeks ago, more than a dozen law enforcement recruits greeted their first day of the Lincoln Police Department Training Academy.

On Wednesday night, they graduated during a ceremony at Southeast Community College and swore an oath of office.

“We’re really excited about the individuals in this group and the leadership that they’ve displayed,” LPD Assistant Chief Ryan Dale said. “Really think that the sky’s the limit for them.”

It wasn’t necessarily an easy road for the 21 recruits between LPD and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. They celebrated Wednesday night after a torrent of slide show studying, early morning running and some painful encounters.

“I think most grueling thing is getting sprayed again,” Sebastian Arrubla, who graduated on Wednesday, said.
