New Orleans Homeland Security criticized during terror attack probe [Video]

The New Orleans City Council held its first hearing on an investigation into safety plans that were in place before a terror attack happened on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Day. The council is looking into what safety measures were in place and why bollards were not in place at the time the suspect drove a truck through Bourbon Street, killing 14 and injuring 35 others. In attendance were representatives with the Department of Public Works and New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. Noticeably absent from the meeting were representatives from the Homeland Security department. Kirkpatrick refused to answer any questions regarding the investigation into the attack, but did say she would answer any questions regarding how to improve safety plans for events going forward.
