NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It was announced Monday, Nov. 11, that New Orleans City Councilmember Joseph Giarusso will join a local law firm at the start of 2025.
Giarrusso will join the Phelps Dunbar firm to be a part of its Government Relations and Public Policy team.

As a result of his joining the firm, Giarrusso will not seek an at-large council seat.
In a post to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, he said:
Giarusso has served on the council for six years representing District A. According to the city website, through the years he created a tax plan that kept millage rates stable, saved taxpayers around $200 million over eight years and dedicated $32 million to gap financing programs resulting in the creation of 1,200 affordable housing units.
