NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Help from the New Orleans area is already flowing into Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, with support coming from various directions.
John Sillars, Chief Strategy Officer for Second Harvest Food Bank, confirmed that efforts are underway to assist those in need.
“Jefferson Parish and Second Harvest are collaborating to collect cleaning supplies that will be sent to hurricane-affected areas in western Carolina as well as Florida once Milton hits,” said Sillars.
Hurricanes often cause extensive flooding, and residents face the difficult task of cleaning up.
,“One of the things that people need after a hurricane are those supplies to really muck out their houses, clean out flooded areas, just Lysol, bleach, paper towels, trash bags,” said Sillars.
