New library in St. Amant will have virtual reality room, double as community center [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Ascension Parish Library is expanding with the new St. Amant Library and Community Center.

APL said the 37,000-square-foot facility is a collaboration between the library and parish government. It is on Highway 431 between Cannon and Bayou Narcisse roads.

The library’s 16,495 square feet will have modern features including an audiovisual recording studio, a virtual reality room, a maker space with digital design tools and dedicated spaces for children and teens.

The design will consider the environment, according to the library. It will have a pier foundation and a retention pond to reduce water runoff by 15%.
