The City of Lexington named a new fire chief. Michael Tofano was recently promoted as the new fire chief for the Lexington Fire Department after serving as interim since former Chief Paul Jarrett retired on Aug. 30, 2024. “After an intense process involving many qualified applicants, I’m confident that Chief Tofano has the skills and ability to lead our exceptional fire department to higher heights. “His commitment to the fire service, and the community are an example of servant leadership”, City Manager Johnnie Taylor said.Click the video player above to watch the latest headlines from WXII 12 News.Tofano graduated from North Davidson High School in 1993 before starting his fire career in Pennsylvania.
