Rock icon Southside Johnny has abruptly announced that he is retiring from touring after more than five decades on the road.
The career decision comes as a result of “ongoing health issues“.
The 76-year-old rock singer, who is the frontman and co-founder of the New Jersey-based Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, revealed that he has pulled the plug on his career as a live performer.
The announcement was shared in a statement released on the band’s website and social media accounts.

“After a hugely successful 50-year run with his band, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, touring non-stop throughout the US and overseas, ‘Southside Johnny’ Lyon has made the decision to retire from touring in order to manage ongoing health issues,” the statement read.
