New homeless resource center to break ground in Murfreesboro [Video]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — Construction is set to begin on a new homeless resource center in Murfreesboro that will provide temporary housing, low-barrier healthcare and additional support for the unhoused.

The Journey Home, a Christian ministry that serves people experiencing homelessness in Rutherford County, is building its new facility on Old Salem Road in Murfreesboro. The two-story, 20,000-square-foot building will allow the organization to expand its efforts in the area.

According to The Journey Home, an estimated 4,000 people experienced homelessness in Rutherford County in 2022. This facility was designed to address the need for temporary housing for families with children, who make up more than a quarter of the unhoused population in the county, the ministry said.
