During Tuesday’s council meeting, Bryan city officials approved a three-phase development project that includes parking spaces, a mid-scale or better hotel and two multistory mixed-use buildings.
Bryan Commerce and Development (BCD) currently owns 4 acres in the north end of Downtown Bryan between West Martin Luther King Jr. Street and East 22nd Street. The plots of land are near the Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. and the Ice House on Main. In 2022, BCD started seeking proposals for development partnerships to develop this land into a project that “would have significant economic, social and cultural impact on the community,” according to city documents. BCD and the city of Bryan agreed on partnering with OFL Group, a Bryan-based developer, to construct the mixed-use destination.
