New community group calls for action against city policies | News [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — A new community group, Save Our Spokane, is gaining support from residents upset with policies introduced by Mayor Lisa Brown and the Spokane City Council.

The recently formed group claims Spokane is becoming a “city of lawlessness” and demands immediate action to address issues like open drug use and a lack of consequences for illegal behavior.

The group plans to voice their concerns Monday evening at the city council meeting but has not yet outlined specific solutions.

Organizer Christine Quinn said residents are frustrated with city leadership’s unfulfilled promises on public safety.

“What we’d like to see is, right now, there are no consequences. There’s open-air drug use everywhere and this needs to stop. Prop One, which is no sit and lie is not being enforced,” said Christine Quinn, Save Our Spokane Organizer.
