New community facilities could be the future for a growing Grain Valley [Video]

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (KCTV) – The City of Grain Valley is growing; so much so that it is now looking at making a new community center, city administration building, and outdoor aquatic center.

“If you go back to the year 2000, 2001 when these buildings were built, our population was around 5,000,” said Ken Murphy, Grain Valley’s City Administrator. “Right now we are closer to 17,000. Obviously with an increase in population, there is a demand for facilities. We just want to make sure we are meeting the needs of our residents.”

The city hired Kansas City-based architectural firm Hoefer Welker to create renderings of what the new facilities could look like. A focus group of Grain Valley residents was also formed to ensure the designs are what the community wants.
