ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Buddhist Support Society in southeastern Rochester is one step closer to completing its new Buddhist Temple.
This new building is called the Shrine Hall or the Preah Vihear, it’s going to be used for the monks and other community members to go and worship. Staff says it’s a very important space within the religion and for the seven monks residing on-site.
Buddhist Support Society secretary Cynthia Neth says, “the Preah Vihear is the heart of the Buddhist monk, every monk comes and gathers and they do the blessing so each not even in Cambodia but here in the US, all of the Preah Vihear they can still do the blessing but it’s pretty much combined in one where all the monks can do the gathering and chant and bless.”
