LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation is about to deploy AI to increase the efficiency of its benefits appeals process.
It would be the first such program in the United States. The goal is to speed up what can be a tedious procedure of reviewing statutes. However, some legal experts are concerned about using artificial intelligence.
Carl Stanfield is the Chief Information Officer with DETR. He said he wanted to make it clear, “It’s not denying benefits. That part right there is key. This actually helps us do our job better and provide the public a faster resolution to the issues they’ve got.”
