SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Downtown Springfield has a new glow thanks to a recent addition to Sculpture Walk Springfield.
A neon light mural is located on the north wall of the Historic Fox Theatre, just behind Park Central Square.
The piece, titled “Interactive Neon Mural #23″ was created by street artist Spidertag.
Through a mobile app, passersby can interact with the mural by changing the colors of the lights and even making them flash with the beat of a song or their voice.
“Having a well-established artist have public art here tells us that we’re like more important than what we think we might be,” said Missouri State University graduate student Olga Shute.
Spidertag, an international muralist, is recognized for his interactive neon murals across the world, including Spain, France, Sweden, and Germany.
If interested, the piece comes on every day from sunset to 12:30 a.m.
