ALEXANDRIA, Ky. (WXIX) – The Northern Kentucky region received the brunt of Wednesday night’s storms, causing damage in some areas.
Alexandria was one of those towns that reported having storm damage.
Emergency management crews along with fire personnel were dispatched around 7 p.m. Wednesday, where they found several homes damaged by fallen trees.
After consulting the Campbell County Emergency Management Team, the National Weather Service determined the damage was from straight- line winds and not a tornado, according to Meteorologist Ashley Novak.
They reached that conclusion after reviewing damage in the area and radar at the time, she said. They determined winds were gusting at least 60 to 70 mph.
FOX19 NOW’s Jordan Vilines was at the scene in Alexandria Thursday morning.
