The southern end of Lone Star Lakes Park will close to allow for better traffic flow.

SUFFOLK, Va. — The annual Nansemond Indian Nation powwow will take place this weekend, and part of a park will be closed to allow for better traffic flow.

The southern end of Lone Star Lakes Park will close on Aug. 17-18 to accommodate traffic exiting the event, according to a Suffolk city press release.

The powwow takes place at Mattanock Town, 1001 Pembroke Lane in Suffolk. All traffic entering the event will use Pembroke Lane.

The closure will affect access to the southern end of Lone Star Lakes, including entrances and exits. However, the north end of the park will be open. Signs will be in place to direct powwow attendees as well as visitors to other parts of the park.

The 36th annual powwow will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. …
