N. Charleston leaders address violent crime increase [Video]

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – North Charleston leaders gathered Thursday at City Hall to address the city’s increase in violent crimes.

District 3 Council members, Sandino Moses discussed several initiatives at the press conference.

“I’m responding to the crime. What I like to call a crime epidemic because it’s a sickness. It’s a cancerous thing that if we don’t watch out, it can take our city over, and that’s not what we’re going to let happen in District 3,” Moses said.

North Charleston Mayor Reggie Burgess also weighed in and addressed a recent violent crime.

“We cannot allow our citizens to feel unsafe in their community. There is no way a 13-year-old child should be walking around or sitting in the hospital with a bullet wound in her chest,” Burgess said.
