Just behind South Providence Medical Park Friday morning, the University of Missouri’s Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment commemorated the completion of the steel frame on its new facility.
There is already an operating facility and research center for the Thompson Foundation off Keene Street in Columbia, but MU is looking to expand the existing services to serve a larger community.
Connie Brooks, executive director of the Thompson Center, compared the similarities between the Thompson Center and Whiting-Turner, the contracting company for the new building. Brooks said their shared goal for the new center is, “creating a comfortable and cozy environment, and creating spaces where life happens and where every brick and every word matters to the families that we serve.”
