Multnomah Co. deflection and sobering center now expected to open in October [Video]

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) – Multnomah County has pushed the opening of its deflection and sobering center in order to meet staffing levels, training standards and allow for more community feedback.

The Coordinated Care Pathway Center was originally slated to open Sept. 1, but is now expected to open mid-to-late October. The county says until the center opens it doors, it will offer deflection through mobile outreach.

“I’ve stated we will open the Coordinated Care Pathway Center as long as we are ready and can safely provide deflection services,” Chair Jessica Vega Pederson said. “After listening to subject-matter experts, neighbors and the community, we are going to take the additional time we need to open in a way that’s safest for the people we are trying to serve, for staff, and for our community.”
