After a heated on-court clash on Sunday, players — and a coach — on both the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets have been dinged by the NBA.
According to an NBA press release, second-year Rockets forward Amen Thompson received the harshest penalty, a two-game suspension. Heat point guard Terry Rozier was penalized with a one-game suspension.
Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green was hit with a $35K fine, while his Heat opposite Tyler Herro received a $25K fine.
Houston point guard Fred VanVleet, a one-time All-Star and one-time league champion while with the Toronto Raptors, was also assessed a $35K fine after he had what the league is calling “reckless” physical contact with referee Marc Davis, prior to the fight. He had been trying to debate with Davis that the Rockets deserved a timeout, and Davis had subsequently ejected VanVleet.
