Rutland County has seen various economic developments in 2024, according to The Chamber and Economic Development of the Rutland Region. Some of the notable developments include businesses in the city of Rutland’s downtown. According to the Downtown Rutland Partnership, at least seven businesses opened their doors last year, and more will open this year. Bougie on a Budget opened last fall along Merchants Row. Owner Jamie Watkins said it’s the first business she’s started. “It’s been a wild ride. So it’s everything from coming into the space and cleaning it and painting it and putting my spin on it,” Watkins said. She says during the new year.
