WESTMINSTER, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An Upstate manufacturer is investing millions of dollars in a new recreation complex for the city of Westminster.
The future Horton Outdoor Recreation Area will be a collaboration between the city, the state, and Horton Inc., a manufacturer of engine cooling systems.
They plan to develop the site on Hall Road into a complex with multiple athletic fields that can host up to five games at once. Plans for future expansions also include an indoor athletics facility, pickleball courts, and parks and recreation offices.
“This incredible donation from Horton Industries is a testament to their commitment to our community,” said Westminster Mayor Brian Ramey. “The complex will enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for all of our citizens, while also boosting residential growth and helping to grow our local economy. We greatly appreciate their investment in Westminster.”
