A York County elementary school was forced to close after losing power from this weekend’s storm.
YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Crews in Mt. Wolf Borough are still picking up the pieces after Saturday’s storm.
Borough officials say most of the damage happened around Mt. Wolf Elementary School and Community Park.
“Mostly between South 4th Street and South 8th Street we had damage, we had trees down, the major damage was at 5th and Maple Street,” said Mayor Maureen Starner.
Tree branches littered the ground while power lines fell, blocking roads.
One line landed on a tree which caused it to smoke.
Some buildings lost power, including the elementary school.
“Our municipal building is right behind the elementary here, and of course the power is out, and we couldn’t open the garage door and get to our backhoe to help,” Starner said.
However, the borough didn’t have to clean up the mess alone.
