MSCS Superintendent Marie Feagins fired in MSCS board meeting [Video]

Memphis-Shelby County Schools board members have terminated the contract of superintendent Marie Feagins.

Feagins served in the role since April after coming from Detroit Public Schools Community District where she served as chief of leadership and high schools.

During her time in the role, she received criticism for job cuts, communications and personnel moves. At least four staff members joined and left the district to work directly with Feagins, including Julian Cross, Camalyn Turner and George Harris.

Area residents spoke for hours to board members during the board meeting and the special meeting that followed, predominately in favor of keeping Feagins.
