Mother, her young daughter return home after overcoming cancer diagnoses together [Video]

PESHTIGO, Wis. (WBAY/Gray News) – A mother and daughter from Wisconsin who had both been diagnosed with cancer returned home Sunday with the entire community celebrating their successful treatment.

With bells in hand and signs showing support, the community of Peshtigo couldn’t wait to see the Maye family again after more than two years of battling cancer.

“Felt like we were never going to get there, and then it finally came,” Heidi Maye said.

Back in 2022, 4-year-old Mya Maye was diagnosed with cancer.

While Mya was on the road to recovery, her mother Heidi Maye found out she was diagnosed with cervical cancer after she became pregnant with Charles.

Once her son was born, she started her treatment with friends and family continuing to help in any way they could.
