Mosquitoes with West Nile virus detected in Pittsfield, city says [Video]

Mosquitoes with West Nile virus have recently been detected in Pittsfield, according to city officials.

The mosquito sample was collected from Pittsfield Municipal Airport, city officials said in a Friday press release. No human cases of the virus near Pittsfield have been reported yet.

Pittsfield and much of Berkshire County is considered as having a moderate risk for West Nile Virus as of Sunday, according to the state’s risk map. The county’s Eastern Equine Encephalitis risk is still considered remote.
