There was a time when Walgreens stores were popping up all over town, but that time has clearly passed.Just last month, a south side Walgreens abruptly closed at Layton Boulevard and National Avenue. Now, WISN 12 News has learned two north side Walgreens are meeting the same fate.The stores at 91st Street and Appleton Avenue and MLK and Hadley Street are now part of the chain’s restructuring. The Appleton Avenue store is closing Dec. 3, and the MLK store on Dec. 5. “I feel like online is really taking over,” said customer Misty Washington Tuesday. “It’s more convenient, and you can find more things online, so I’m not surprised at all.”They’re part of an historic 1,200 location shut down nationwide announced by Walgreens last month.
