IN TONIGHT’S CHAMPLAIN CONNECTION, MORE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE IS ON THE WAY TO SUPPORT PROJECTS FOR THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN BASIN PROGRAM AND OTHER FLOOD IMPACTED COMMUNTIES IN OUR REGION. THE MONEY IS COMING THROUGH BIPARTISAN WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 2024 THAT PASSED CONGRESS LAST WEEK. WITH THIS, THE U-S ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND OTHERS WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE PROJECTS IN COMMUNTIES. IT WILL FUND WORK ON THE WATERBURY, WRIGHTSVILLE AND EAST BARRE DAMS AND SUPPORT PROJECTS AT THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN WATERSHED ENVIRONMENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR VERMONT. A PROVISION IN THE BILL WILL ALSO COVER 90-PERCENT OF THE COSTS FOR THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN BASIN PROGRAM.
