TUCSON, Ariz. — A woman was recently sentenced to 22 years in an Arizona prison after she drove impaired and crashed her car on Interstate 10, resulting in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Andrea Crespin, 32, was sentenced last month after pleading guilty to manslaughter, aggravated assault and DUI charges in relation to a head-on crash that occurred on Aug. 14, 2022.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Crespin was driving in the wrong direction on I-10 near Vail when she hit another vehicle. Crespin’s child was seated unrestrained in the front passenger seat and died at the scene of the crash.
Two other adults were seriously injured in the collision.
DPS said Crespin’s blood alcohol concentration was more than three times the legal limit.
Nearly a year after the crash, detectives tracked Crespin down to an apartment in Chandler and arrested her.
