MMA promotion on track to break UFC record with stadium show featuring ex-footballer who played against World Cup stars [Video]

OKTAGON MMA are on course to break the UFC’s attendance record with the help of German football.

The promotion are braced for their biggest event yet when Christian Eckerlin faces Christian Jungwirth at Eintracht Frankfurt’s stadium.

And they are hoping to cram a stunning 60,000 into the Deutsche Bank Park on October 12 when bragging rights go on the line.

That would beat the UFC’s highest-attendance record – which was set in 2015 when 56,214 watched Holly Holm upset Ronda Rousey in Australia.

Oktagon co-founder Pavol Neruda told SunSport: “I think we will beat this number. It would be amazing.

“The arena is so huge, the atmosphere is so big, and I see this as a huge statement for the world for what we are doing.

“Now I think this will be the thing that the whole world will watch.”
